I want to know your guy's history with TF2. Were you a loyal player since beta? Did you hop on when it became F2P? Whatever it is, share it here. I'll start with mine.
TF2 and I go way back, not quite as far back as the Beta but pretty far back still. I think I first heard about it when I was in Jr. High, so that's like 5 or 6 years ago now. Back then the only FPS games I knew were Left 4 Dead and Halo so a class based game was completely mind blowing and awesome to me. Unfortunately I grew up on Nintendo games and my parents only ever bought Mac computers, so I had no way to actually play it. About a year later I finally got my hands on an Xbox 360. Aside from getting Halo with the Xbox, Left 4 Dead and Orange Box were the first games I got. After I beat all the Half Life's, Portal, and L4D campaigns, TF2 was all I had left to master. Ah yes, those were the dark days indeed. On the Xbox version, there are no updates. So the only map ever played was of course, Dustbowl and maybe Hydro a bit (man I miss that horrible map). Back then Snipers could shoot through the start up gates, Demos could carry like twice as much ammo for their grenade and sticky launcher, and of course Engineers could only level their sentries to 3. Also playing an FPS on a controller without some kind of wussy auto aim lock on crap makes it extremely difficult to really hit anything unless your Heavy.
Anyway I had a lot of fun with that stupidness for about a year until my second year in High School. That's when I built my first gaming computer (or a rig as we nerds call it). Not gonna lie, this was my first non-Mac computer since I was born. It was pretty amazing to actually be able to play more then just flash games on it. Of course I installed Steam and TF2 ASAP. I started playing TF2 on the PC around the start of the Sniper Spy update. When hats were just starting to become a thing. Played the game and enjoyed it for the next few years. I remember my very first hat craft was my Bonk Helmet. I still use it for my Scout today. As time went on I got a lot better at the game. Then the game went F2P. For the next few months it was a nightmare to see all these new F2P scrubs join and make me completely lose my mind. So after getting sick of top scoring every single round, even if I was trying to do poorly on purpose, I just stopped having fun and quit. I quit TF2 and picked of League of Legends for the rest of my High School life. After I finished High School, I realized LoL hadn't done much more then just make me really pissed off all the time so I dropped that game despite putting thousands of hours into it. I decided to pick up TF2 again to see how much has changed. This time all those F2P scrubs I was talking about earlier were now Premium masters with like a bajillion unusual. Fortunately I retained a lot of my skill and prior knowledge to the game and got back into it relatively easily. Another year later and Michael Bluth finally recruited me after playing on EGO servers for the past months, and from that point I guess you guys know the rest.

Around December I started playing on the eGO 2Fort server. I played that for several months until, surprise surprise, I realized that it wasn't the only map in Tf2! Since then I got my first unusual (Blizzardy Storm Industrial Festivizer), found my favorite game mode (Saxton Hale), and have achieved my one main goal in Tf2: make it to the top 1000 in GameMe (current rank: 957)!
I kid. Anyways awesome post jerryberry
