5th Annual eGO DoD FF League

This has been such a difficult year for me in FF, there has been only one consistent player in my team, Antonio Brown - and he was even risky during the kick face incident.

Megatron - Injured
Tate - Inconsistent
Bush - Crap and Injured
Rice - Wife beater
Other RBs - Crap.

I miss Romo and Marshall and D. Thomas...anyone wanna trade?

I just realized that I didn't post the "detailed" Alpha League results from Week 10; here are both weeks 10 and 11.

It's ironic Skippy and I are facing each other this week; we both just dropped "stud" RBs. Of course, his was Adrian Peterson (who hasn't played this year at all) and mine was Ahmad Bradshaw (who'd had a great comeback year). I wonder who's going to feel more pain? :(
 
Week 12 results, Alpha League:

I'll save the detailed recapping for Skippy; however, allow me to congratulate Q-Tip on winning the Duality division, an Skippy on clinching the ronpaul division (grumble grumble). They've also clinched playoff byes, though their seeding isn't yet set. The Spray division is still very much in flux, as Fluxion is right on (IO) SA's heels. The wild card slots are similarly not yet dealt out.

More detailed playoff analysis later this week, after I crunch the numbers.
 
This is it, folks. The final week of the regular season. It's go big or go home time. Let's look back and see what happened last week...

Week 12 notables:

Alpha league

Duality Division
  • With a comfortable 31-point win over Nuckin (6-6), Qtip (10-2) remains perfect in his division and cements his already strong chances of clinching the #1 overall seed for the playoffs.
  • Taking advantage of Nuckin's defeat, DrCompton (7-5) pulled off a gritty win over Terror (3-9) to rise to #4 in the overall standings. Interestingly enough, DrCompton is ranked below (IO)SA (6-6), who has an inferior W-L record, but is #3 by virtue of being the Spray division leader. Regardless, DrCompton is one of the odds-on favorites for making the playoffs; while it isn't guaranteed yet, a lot of things would have to go wrong for him to not qualify after this coming week's match-ups.

ronpaul Division
  • Skippy (9-3) avenged his 6-point loss in Week 1 to Mavwreck (7-5) with a comprehensive 152.90-100.75 drubbing, and in the process clinched ronpaul, as well as at least the #2 overall seed for the playoffs, which is important because of the first-round byes that the top 2 seeds get. Mavwreck's consolation is that just like DrCompton, his 7-5 record almost ensures playoff qualification.
  • BeeF's (5-7) intra-divisional victory over Bay Area (5-7) seemed meaningless, but seriously dented Bay Area's qualification hopes. Neither team is mathematically out of playoff contention yet, but in what would be the opposite of DrCompton's situation, a lot of things have to go right for either one of these teams to qualify.

Spray Divison
  • The drama goes on in this division. Two weeks ago Fluxion (6-6) finally separated himself from (IO)SA (6-6) and wewo (5-7), but then found himself leap-frogged by (IO)SA after losing to him last week. While (IO)SA currently has the upper hand due to his superior intra-division record (3-1, vs. Fluxion's 2-1), the stats say advantage Fluxion, as on paper he appears to have an easier match-up against wewo this week, compared to (IO)SA who goes up against an angry Mavwreck team.
  • Kudos to BaCkStAb (3-9) for not mailing it in, and posting a win over a solid wewo (5-7) team. After BaCkStAb took a healthy early lead through strong performances from the likes of Jordy, Jordan Matthews, Rashad Jennings, and even the St.Louis D, wewo stormed back with a whopping 45.60 points from just Buffalo and his last-minute acquisition Tim Wright, but ended up being denied by Steve Smith's 18.90-pointer on Monday night.

Bravo league

C-WHiT Division
  • Predator Lark (8-4) clinched his playoff spot with a narrow, 10-point victory over Bigbird (5-7).
  • The best medicine for bouncing back from a loss is a match-up against a team that has all but given up. And that's just what the doctor ordered for MatzWhat (7-5), who was able to easily take down Joe the Plumber (3-9) and cement his playoff hopes.

Blue Stealth Division
  • Brushing off his week 11 loss as a distant memory, Dangle (9-3) showed Sprucewayne (7-5) who owns the Blue Stealth division with a comprehensive 161.50-129.55 win, and in the process secured the #1 seed for the playoffs.
  • Talking about brushing off tough losses, Kiwi (6-6) did just that by quickly forgetting his 0.10 point loss in week 11, and delivering a clear message to a spirited Dodgy (4-8) team that resistance is futile by delivering a scary 175.35-138.75 victory. In the process, Kiwi preserves his slim playoff hopes for another week.

Lungbuster Divison
  • Somewhat lucky to escape with a close win over ZerO (5-7) this past week, Silent Drifter (7-5) tightens his grip on this division but mathematically has not yet secured his playoff future. A win in week 12 over defending champ Efren (5-7) will do just that, however.
  • Still (impressively) refusing to make a single roster move, Hardwarebeer (6-6) escaped Efren (5-7) with a slim 8-point victory to also stay in the playoff hunt.

There will be a new champ in 2014

Week 13 brings our regular season to a close, and the lucky teams that made it now advance to the playoffs over the next 3 weeks. Note that even if you did not qualify for the playoffs (i.e. 7th through 12th seeds), you will still have matchups over the next 3 weeks in the 'consolation' bracket. Granted, there will not be any prizes there besides bragging (or whining) rights.

Week 13 notables:

Alpha league

Duality Division
  • Business as usual for Qtip (11-2), as he closed out the regular season with a comfortable win over BeeF (5-8) and guaranteed himself the #1 seed for the playoffs in Alpha division.
  • Despite losing to an impressive Nuckin (7-6) team, DrCompton (7-6) hung on as the #4 team to qualify for the playoffs. For his efforts, Nuckin was also awarded a playoff spot as the 6th best team in Alpha league.

ronpaul Division
  • In a game that had no huge playoff implications for either team, Skippy (10-3) defeated the already-eliminated Terror (3-10) to advance to the playoffs with the #2 seed.
  • Revisiting last week's report which said, "Mavwreck's consolation is that just like DrCompton, his 7-5 record almost ensures playoff qualification." can only illustrate how anything can happen in FF. Mavwreck's (7-6) crushing loss to (IO)SA (7-6), combined with Nuckin and Fluxion's wins, meant that 5 teams ended up sharing 7-6 records. Mavwreck just happened to have the lowest total points scored (i.e. the first tie-breaker) of these 5 teams during the season, effectively eliminating him from the playoffs. Ouch!

Spray Divison
  • (IO)SA (7-6) finished the season strongly by winning his 2nd in a row over Mavwreck, clinching the hotly-contested Spray division, and enters the playoffs as the #3 overall seed.
  • Fluxion's (7-6) convincing win over a cold Wewo (5-8) team ensured playoff qualification for him as the #5 overall seed.

Bravo league

C-WHiT Division
  • Perhaps already comfortable that he had qualified for the playoffs, Predator Lark (8-5) suffered a narrow loss to Joe the Plumber (4-9), dropping him from #2 to #5 for the playoffs. Not normally a big deal except that the top 2 seeds enjoy a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
  • One American's loss is another Brit's gain. With a HUGE win (173.95-159.05) over a team (Dangle, 9-4) that has pretty much owned Bravo division much of this year, MatzWhat (8-5) notched his 2nd win in as many weeks and leapfrogged Predator Lark to clinch the C-WHiT division title. Oh, and also the #2 seed and a handy week 14 bye.

Blue Stealth Division
  • Having already won the division and clinched the #1 seed for the playoffs last week, Dangle (9-4) will have no problems losing to MatzWhat this week.
  • Team Batman (Sprucewayne, 8-5) took care of business by bouncing Hardwarebeer (6-7) and in the process qualified for post-season play as the #4 ranked team.
  • Speaking of HUGE games, Kiwi (7-6) picked the right week to register the highest single-week point total, brushing ZeRO (5-8) aside 217.05-173.25. This clutch win meant that Kiwi sneaks into the playoffs as the only 7-6 team in Bravo, and with the #6 seed. He will have to get past Silent Drifter and then SpruceWayne in order to reach the Bravo final, but never discount a hobbit.

Lungbuster Divison
  • Silent Drifer (8-5) destroyed defending champion Efren (5-8) by almost 70 points and in the process won the Lungbuster division, and retains his #3 rank going into the playoffs.
  • It's been a valiant effort by Hardwarebeer, who has refused to make a single roster move all season long, but their Cinderella run is over after losing to Sprucewayne by less than 3 points. That said, even if Hardwarebeer had won last week, he would still have lost out on a playoff spot to Kiwi by virtue of the total points scored tie-breaker.

We'd be glad to have you. I usually start a new thread around June announcing the start of the season and calling for participants, so do be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, I've also added you to the interest list (on my original post in this thread), so as to help me remember who had expressed interest in joining.

This is the first year we 'expanded' into separate Alpha and Bravo leagues, because we had so many participants. While Alpha and Bravo teams never technically play each other, there will still only be 1 overall winner at the end of the season, determined by whether the Alpha or Bravo champ has a higher point total from weeks 15 and 16.

Our format next year will be dictated by how many teams we have, but either way don't worry, just sign up next year and I'll let guide you through the steps.

Ouch, indeed. My point total wasn't even close to the other three, though...if I'd scored enough to make up that gap I'd have won my game. But, seriously, though...zero points from Jimmy Graham?!?!? He wasn't even targeted! WTF, Brees?

You scored the 2nd highest points in Bravo during the regular season, and suffered the 2nd highest points against...I'd say your 7-6 team is just a tad underrated.

haha dont count your eggs before they hatch. you'll have a hard match next week however makes it through. Silent has been on a roll lately and beat me a couple weeks ago
 
I was getting scared last night with Alshon Jeffrey. He wasn't doing much and then got that TD in the 4th. I'll take it.
 
just curious, why I am I playing a bye? is it that late already? I thought my phone was broken, couldnt get to the 'versus' page. after this week the playoffs start, correct?
 
The way the leagues worked out this year, with only 6 playoff spots per league, the first two seeds of each League's bracket get a first round Bye while the 3 through 6 seeds play each other, leaving those two victors and the 1 and 2 seeds to make up the Semi's. Last year's playoffs had the top 8 out of 18, an even number, so there were no Playoff Bye's. Getting a 1 or 2 seed basically guarantees a 4th place finish or better; not my favorite format, but the only real way for a 6 team playoff to be bracketed out.
