Hey everyone, its been a long time since I have been on here. I was on your servers though and I was just wondering what had happened to the strand server? That was all I would play on DoD :P

Strand was removed due to inactivity - It was also previously put up on the Rotation server we have now, but whenever it was switched to that map the server would empty.

Yes, sorry to say Kpo, you must have been a part of the regular members and pubs who populated that server. I will expand on what Firehazard mentioned. For some reason, the members and regulars who were on that server every day just stopped playing, all at the same time. We, as Rangers, would try and try and try to get it full. That map, when full, was a lot of fun, I enjoyed it myself. What was NOT enjoyable, was joining the server, with 2 axis and 0 allies, and one in spec. I would have to go allies, and as soon as I did, the spec jumped on axis. So now there is an MG in each bunker and a sniper on top of the hill, with little ol' me as target practice. Maybe one or two people would show up, get mowed down on the beach right away and then leave. It was exasperating. We even tried to limit the classes until it reached a certain number of players, and even that failed. IMO, it was the habits of the regular axis players and inactivity of regulars that ultimately forced the decision to trade Strand and Anzio, which had its own problems, for a Rotation server. Strand was kept on as one of the choices at voting time. For example, say we got Rotation half full, 8v8, and the map switched to strand, within minutes we are all of a sudden 2v2, if not completely empty.

I miss it sometimes, and have been thinking about making it an event, perhaps twice a month. Keep an eye out for the weekly events thread, as Im afraid that will be the only way we can pull it off.

See ya around!

That is a bummer.. shame that it fell out. It does seem like a good idea though to throw it into an event. Strand and Anzio were at one point my favorites to go onto, but oh well. Still have Kalt I see.. ;p

Anzio is still on the Rotation server, and it gets pretty populated when we're on it. ;)

Q-Tip, I don't know if you remember this or not. But we tried taking this to the higher ups, but they wanted no parts of it.
We wanted as regular admins to move players that did that, jumping to axis side and throw the favor more to them, which emptied the server until more regulars showed up.

I am more than willing to foot the bill for a 24/7 eGO Strand server to be run by eGO as any other server is, and I won't and don't want special treatment just because I'm paying the server bill either. Now I know that it will take time to get it back in the top 100's again, but it can be done. Myself along with others have brought Strand back from the dead/chopping block before, and it can be done again!

Strand being shut down, is the reason I changed from DOD:S to BF4.

Strand was great fun tonight and I agree it should be an event a few times a month. It play so differently than the other maps which makes it a nice change of pace. Turning off points is also smart as it allows the allies to suicide up the sea wall with no fear. Will look out for it again.

Well said, I agree it was fun. That hour flew by. Probably had at least 10 v 10 for most of it. The game play is SO much different, I only started to remember how things work about half way through.

I would have NO problem fitting this in the schedule where there are openings, not all the time, but twice a month sounds good to me :)
