The First FPS That You PLayed

Operation Wolf :D.

Wolfenstein 3D, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, and Doom came later. Cookie for anyone besides me who actually played Blake Stone. I figure it's a pretty obscure game compared to Wolf 3D.

Played Blake Stone: Planet Strike, but not the original.

And I'm not sure you can consider Operation Wolf a first person shooter in the classical sense. If I remember right, you had no control over the hero and it was single pane or side scroller with a fixed gun that just moved around a crosshair on the screen.

This is true. I was actually weighing whether or not Operation Wolf could really be considered a real FPS. I guess the more appropriate category would probably be arcade shooter or rail shooter.

I'd say arcade rail shooter :P

I loved those style of games. There was a much more modern one, late 90s. Hrmmm... Generation X? Something like that. The gun's secondary fire was CDs of all thing and the sound track/effects for the game were all hard rock. I fed many a quarter into that thing, I regularly lost feeling in my arms from the force feedback of the gun.

Edit: And duck hunt was definitely not a FPS :P

I think Duck Hunt would have to go into the same category as Operation Wolf :P (arcade shooter).

I seem to recall an arcade game based on Aerosmith, of all things, and it was called Revolution X. Would that be the game you're thinking of? Never actually played it myself, but I saw a mention of it in an old game magazine I had.

That's the one. And it was none of Aerosmith's soft stuff either.

It was a really well put together game.

Bungie's Marathon series (same time frame as Doom) for the Mac. We use to set up LAN parties (before they were called that) back in the college dorm rooms in '93. 8v8 King of the Hill and also Kill the man with the Ball games.... Good times

A friend of mine got the console port for his birthday on year. It wasn't nearly as fun as the arcade version since we were using controllers, but it was an amusing diversion.

Oh, and Wolf 3D for me. Yeah, I'm dating myself here.
