Shutterbugs flutter here!

Purp, I always admire someone who can capture portraits well...never seem to quite be able to get the hang of it, which is why I usually stick to landscapes. Well done. And Dark, I've tried a few things, but sometimes it's just fun to take the camera out and shoot a bit. :)

Oh, and the Ladymoose and I are headed out to King's Canyon for a hike today, so more pictures on the way. :)

Without much further ado, Moose and Ladymoose's trip to Kings Canyon:

I love the Sierra Nevada's. Not the biggest range, but still darn pretty.

Just a bit of scope of the size of the valley.

A Yucca Plant, standing about 8' tall. They dotted the opposite hillside. These and the Buckeye trees were in full bloom.

No more than fifty yards into our hike, a lovely stream.

Noticed this oddly-shaped tree, to discover it was a burnt out shell.

I'm disappointed that I can't properly convey the awe-inspiring views of this valley.

A plant's ability to grow, almost no matter what, is awesome.

This is the Mariposa Lilly. A fairly rare flower, but in impressive numbers here. Sorry it's a little fuzzy.

I've never seen a snake in the wild before in my entire life, and we saw two in one hike.

The Kings Canyon River was our constant companion all along the hike.

Flippy even stopped by to say hi. :)

This is a naturally occurring Artesian spring.

The level and power of the river was amazing, there wasn't a calm spot to be seen in five miles. I know, I hiked it. :)

This was the 3/4 mark...again...I can't properly convey the majesty and awesomeness of this view...

Waterfall at the 3/4 mark.

This was what made the 5 mile hike worth it...Mist Falls. The awesome power of it was breathtaking.

Ignore the Moose in the foreground...this is just to a) prove I made it five miles and b) to give perspective to the sheer size of the falls.

Was feeling a little better on the way back (upriver vs. downriver), so I got a better shot from the 3/4 mark.

Made myself a duckrock to prove I'd been there. :)

Next post, Giant Sequoias.

Here we go, the Giant Sequoias Park.

These three giants dwarfed the surrounding pines.

Ladies and gentlemen...say hello to the General Sherman Giant Sequoia...the largest living tree in the world. 2,200 years old, it grows enough wood in one year to make a 60' tall tree of normal proportions.

Once again, ignore the Moose in the foreground, this is another perspective shot...to give even more perspective, that's the Ladymoose with the me and camera as far back as we could go.

That branch you see on the left is seven feet in diameter.

And to top off the day, we caught a brown bear right next to the road on the way out. It was literally about four feet away from me...I would have had some better shots if I had been prepared...but we were also stopped in the middle of the highway, and as soon as I saw the cubs, I decided I didn't wanna piss mama off.

I was planning a photo trip and put up some new photos today, but will have to postpone.

Aww...*blows dust off thread* Let's see if we can get some life back into this. :)

Yarp...started this up months ago for people to post pics they've taken. I'm a huge photography buff (as you'll notice if you look around for my name enough), so I decided to start posting! :)

Hmm. Do you know how to make wallpapers for various size screens out of pictures? I haven't gotten a chance to look up how, but I'm wanting to post some of my pictures on interfacelift.com but I wanted to make them compatible with multiple screen sizes.

wOOt! I had totally forgotten about this thread! Let me pull some stuff of the old digital camera to post!

Ok, here are a few from a month ago or so.
I took my kids up into the mountains near Estes Park, CO for a camping trip. The camping part wound up falling through due to weather, but we had a great afternoon playing around in one of the most beautiful places on earth!

This is a little chapel near the base of Long's Peak, halfway between a tiny town called Allen's Park and Estes Park on CO highway 7 (the peak-to-peak highway). I don't know anything about it, just that it has a little pond in front of it, and that from the little walkway around it you have a panoramic view of Long's Peak (a 14,000+ foot peak that I climbed once on a drunken whim with my brother) one way, and Meeker peak (a shorter but still imposing peak) the other.

A couple shots of my kids climbing around throwing stuff into the St. Vrain's river. It was lightly raining, thus the misty effect.

Turtle: That first pic is amazing. An awesome way to restart the thread! :)

Piece: That's beyond my current skills. Might want to ask that one in the artwork section, particularly ask Laffinass. He's been my source for a good deal of wallpapers.
