And that is use of the term "baserape". For one it just sounds ...wrong, and technically it is AGAINST our Code of conduct and our rules to use such a term.
Yes we all have used this term at one time or another as it is part of the gaming culture, but we here at edge-gamers are held to a higher standard because we ARE a better standard and I do not know about the rest of you but I try to improve MY standards because of this.
So I challenge all of us to change our habit just a bit, maybe instead of using this slang term of which many non english speaking people may not understand, in our kick and ban reasons, we should use terms EVERYONE will understand such as
!kick Beemermarine for attacking the deployment area or !kick Beemermarine for entering the enemy deployment area, this leaves zero doubt of the rule broken, for everyone knows what the deployment area is(some do not know it is referred to as the "uncaps")
A little rewording could mean the difference of a player returning or flat out leaving the server all together because they do not understand what we are trying to say to them.

Deployment area might be a bit big for using as a kick/ban reason though..

Maybe something like 'Spawn Zone/Area' or something similar that isn't as long? ;)

Either way, well said beemer!

I think Spawn area/zone would be fine as well, I only used deployment area as that is what it is called in game on both BC2 and BF4

I agree strongly Beemermarine

Still prefer uncap for uncap-able area. Many people confuse Spawn points as those in others game forms such as Capture the Flag and don't differentiate from the uncaps in Conquest.

One more thing if we're trying to change the word uncaps is anyone going to change the terminology in the rules? @rules says Do Not Enter Uncaps

I highly agree and have been feeling this for quite some time

Been trying to figure out a list of what the uncap can be called.
Not trying to make this harder than it should be, just trying to list out the most common ways to name what we are trying to name.
Please feel free to add to the list.
You can swap the word Area for Spawn if you like.

1. uncap
2. Deployment Area
3. Start Area
4. Game Start Area
5. Spawn Area
6. Main Start Area
7. Main Base
8. Enemy Base
9. Enemy Start
10.

- Anything with "spawn" will only confuse because of the other spawn areas when an area is caped.
- It took me a good month to figure out what uncap was, then a few more months top figure out why it was called uncap.
- Anything with base will confuse because when a team has captured a flag, that becomes their base.
- Dang, this is hard...I say we define what the word "uncap" means in the rules, and just call it uncap. I guess we can call it whatever we want, as long as we define it for all to see...lol
- In the @rules, under "Do not enter enemy uncap", we can have a line item that says: "uncap is the area where enemy players start each game"

Been trying to implement this since last fall!

Thanks, Beemer!

(for the record, I usually use "Please do not enter enemy spawn/redzones" or something to that effect. Though, "Please do not enter enemy deployment area" is effective as well.

Getting off point a bit here. Beemer's point was not to come up with a term for the uncap, but to come up for terms for an all cap situation other than one that is offensive and against EGO policy for members to use in chat.

Spawn area can be interpret differently by different people.
If a player play certain map enough, then they will know there area certain pin point spot that the game will spawn people on. For example, in locker, outside C and B, there are 1 spot that people spawn on. So saying spawn area might mislead people to think you cant spawn camp like that.

I'm not understanding this too much. Are we not to use the word "baserape" in game, in an in-game kick/ban reason, or both? I'm fine with not using it (I don't even think I've typed the word until now). however, I've always thought the syntax was "do not fire/explode/enter the uncap area" and "/kick/ban Uncap violaton - descriptive reason here"

The point I believe to be taken here is don't be vague when you are giving out warning or kicking players for "baserape". Far as I can tell, no one that has done that when I'm on servers.

To clarify I am talking about the "ingame" reason, and as Tipton stated this was not to come up with a phrase that we were to use, but, to stop the use of "baserape" and instead insert a word or phrase more suitable to the general public, then just us hardcore ape's..:)

Agreed.
No more "baserape".
