Soo quite a bit back when pG and eGO merged, the sever was great. People did things like extreme climb days, we played some good maps like vice, peanut and vipinthemix wasn't played 24/7. Now a lot of people don't do these things which just doesn't make jailbreak as fun as it used to be. My request is can people start doing these things. Playing some good underplayed maps, not calling hunger games at least once every map, doing extreme climb days (WITHOUT being cancer), play some games that aren't played that often and so on so forth. I honestly think by doing these things jailbreak would be A LOT less "toxic".

Of course it would, this it what JB would be in a perfect world.

However, thats not what we have.

It's quite sad that it's how JB is, but there's no way we can force people to play different games, and maps. Nowadays people are worried about a number that increases in increments of one at the top of a scoreboard moreso than actually having fun.

Now, I do see some of your points with maps. VIP and Peanut are played quite a bit, and that's not going to stop. People are going to nominate and vote for maps they like to play, and it's not easy to change someone else's opinion about a map. I suggested it back at pG and once here back in august, that it wouldn't kill people to raise the time before a map can be re-nominated but it's not going to be switched.

Summary: JB is a highly volatile game which is going to be played how people want to see it played, and there's not much to do. I'd like to see some other highly played Jailbreak players' thoughts on this. Jacko O Orange CtrlAltDelicious A ApexLock

I think that updates to maps to make them more unique and having more map games (looking at maps like avalanche) would be good. I would definitely love if we played more underplayed maps, but those underplayed maps need to have merit that makes them unique (Paradise winter is a good example).

The maps on JB are incredibly old, and I think that the currently 'overplayed' maps could be much more enjoyable for everybody if they were updated (Jacko is doing a good job at posting suggestions for this).

Overall, the latter part of this suggestion falls under warden's choice, where always try to play underplayed games on the map that we're on.

I think that while this idea is good in theory, there's really no good way to implement it. It would have to be a sort of unwritten contract, and there will always be people who prefer to play a certain way.

I see the suggestions forums littered with threads of things that could simply be fixed with less kill-hungry CTs, but the simple fact is, there always will be those type of CTs.

As much as I would love our community to shift towards a less toxic stance, I'm afraid the few kill-hungry counter-terrorists will always be a part of jailbreak. I've seen people who have tried their best to stray away from cancer, but their roots always shows up every once in a while. I'd love for our jailbreak server to strive to improve overall enjoyability to new players and old players alike, but I'm afraid that there are just a few players who don't believe in the same ideals.

Whenever I am on the server, I always try to vote for maps that I don't see played a lot, and nominate maps that I enjoy for the games rather than the popularity/time played. As much as I try to silently influence others to try out new maps rather than the same set of maps, players usually just want to repeat the same maps again. I think a nice fix to this was explained nicely in this thread made by peloc:

Hey don't totally give up hope.

One time back on old jail we ( Luna Luna the admin trainer [SUP]says ur stupid[/SUP] and Rouge Sniper) starting encouraging (a made up rule) to not kill anyone until all the t's left out of cell block. Even though it never was a rule and I don't think we ever revoked (swapped) someone for it eventually people just stopped doing it because we would remind them through voice chat saying "Hey why don't you wait to kill him until we left cells".

What I'm trying to get at is maybe everything doesn't need to have a rule, simple stuff like this, just as an admin set an example and "warn" (encourage with like admin voice or non admin text chat) to say "hey try this" "don't do cancer this" "why don't you let him leave" etc.

At least one can always hope...

We didn't really "warn" players, more of friendly reminders of how to keep things fair and fun for everyone. You have to be careful not to make people think certain things are rules, that aren't actually rules. I ran into this issue a lot when I was an AT and had to start explicitly stating when I was just giving a suggestion on how someone could be a better warden rather than telling them a "rule".

As a side note, just so nobody is confused. I'm not currently an AT and that part of the quoted message is a silly old inside joke from cs members from when I was still a part of the team.

Alex Alex O Orange A ApexLock , this is a request. I am not saying everybody should start doing this. If one person does it a lot than maybe another person might think to them selves "Oh, this is actually quite fun. You don't have to be cancer/toxic to get to lr" and than they might start doing that.

Been doing that as warden for ages. Some people still think that cancer is more efficient though, and choose to play that way. Nothing I can do about it, apart from encouraging play in a way that is more fun for everybody.

How long is "ages", also you could just say something like that "Will you ever stop playing the same game over and over" or "Vote for *MAP*, its underplayed and very underated". I've seen some admins ask people to vote for a certain map and it usually did get a lot of votes. Also the thing that crc did with Nick looks like a good way to get rid of the toxicity.

Lead by example. Actions will speak MUCH louder than words. Be the change that you are wanting to see. If you want a less toxic and more innovative environment, then you need to do that yourself. People will follow if we are doing it together.

I'm gonna go ahead and lock it, but I do agree. Less toxicity and more fun is what we want. Cheers!
