CS TTT Detective rule suggestion

What I want is for it to be against the rules to shoot at a person you missed a taze on as a detective. There currently is no concrete rule against this and it has ruined rounds for people that are just playing the game.

There is no good way out for the player that is being shot at regardless of their role.
a: The inno likely get killed by other innos seeing a detective shoot at him if he doesnt shoot back.

b: if the Inno shoots back, he gets called kos by another detective that scans the dead detective's body, or other innos see him shoot the detective and put him down.

c: If the detective doesn't hit him, he could try to report the inno for rdm after the inno kills him, since he's a detective and innos shouldn't really ever kill them.

If the player that gets shot at is a Traitor, their round is virtually over because;

a: You killed a detective, everyone that sees it happen pops you instantly and your round is over.

b: Another detective scans the body of the detective you killed and calls KOS on you.

A suggestion of what the rule could look like under the detective section:
May not shoot in the general direction of players without evidence suggesting they're a traitor. (e.g. Missing a taze)

For clarification: The situation I'm talking about involves a detective missing a taze, then shooting in a person's direction. (t-baiting if they were an inno, not a detective)

I'm no AT, but shooting at someone if you miss a tase has never been in the rules. It's still considered RDM because you don't have a justifiable cause to kill them.

That's the issue here peloc, they arent shooting to kill someone, they're missing a tase, then shooting around someone to get them to shoot back if they are T.

That's considered t-baiting, which is server disruption. It's already defined in in admin training and in the rules.

Well that's the thing, some players and admins have said Detectives cannot T-bait because they are detectives... and there's nothing about that in the rules currently which is why I want that implemented.

And then others will argue that if his role is known as a detective, how can he possibly bait others into believing he is a traitor by his actions.

It doesn't really fit the definition of what t baiting is, but it most certainly isn't allowed. It would probably fall under griefing or server disruption.

A proven innocent and a detective a known not traitors, but are still held accountable for t-baiting rules.

Picture this, you're a proven innocent and you suspect another user is a T. You decide to shoot at that user, but intentionally miss. The user then decides it is in his best defense to shoot back at you. Both of you end up being innocent. So who here would be at fault? C ChrisChross

The proven innocent in my opinion, but there are people that believe otherwise and it's apparantly not as black and white to everyone as you think. So i'd like for a rule to be written stating that detectives aren't allowed to in people's general direction without a good reason to. (It's already against the rules I guess, but it's not written down concretely)

The way I see it, it's implied that you can't shoot at or kill a person you missed a tase on. It's already stated that you cannot kill for someone evading a tase. And since t-baiting is also against the rules, t-baiting to get them to shoot you is also against the rules. It's not that complicated in my opinion. If someone says that you can, inform them that it's still server disruption/RDM on a case by case basis.

^ I think I'm a bit late on this, but I 100% agree with what peloc said and I think that the detective should not be shooting at/near/towards the person after they (attempted to) taze someone at all, whether they hit it or not. It is considered server disruption to do so, and may be RDM if they kill the player even if they are shooting back in defense.

A proven innocent and a detective are not the same thing though. A Detective is proven regardless of situation.

thats what i have been saying all along why did we need so many comments when we get AT's on it they will say the same thing

There isn't a need folks to make an underlining rule for something like this, just my personal opinion. If a Detective attempts to taze an unknown role and shoots after in hopes they will return fire just to simply kill them then it should be treated as RDM, SD and/or Griefing (as you're ruining said players experience and time on the server), which is already outlined in our Code of Conduct. Essentially, they didn't have sufficient evidence that would deem that player to be a traitor. Also, we don't need to be turning our rule book for TTT into a Bible or an encyclopedia as it would just detract from game play.

Have fun and make use of the golden rule that has helped me when admining any situation, common sense. When in doubt ask a fellow admin or an AT.

i hope people will learn from what you wrote ctrl :D

Just my personal thoughts and opinion on the matter is all. They can either take my advice or send it down the shoot.

It doesn't matter though. In this case, it would still be against the rules. Shooting at or towards someone with no proof that they are a traitor is t-baiting. Traitor baiting is either shooting at someone to make them think you're the traitor or to make them shoot back. It griefing regardless of the role of the user

T-Baiting: Intentionally acting like a traitor is considered griefing and is server punishable. Innocents should not be intentionally committing traitorous acts or claim to be a traitor.

This only refers to innocents baiting, A Det. can not T-bait in any sense of the word. This case is similar to a Det. going into the T-room and killing anyone in sight, cause if an inno kills him it would be considered RDM. It would be any Innos fault for being in the T-room cause that is T-Baiting

So you're saying a detective can intentionally shoot near someone to bait them into shooting them so the detective can kill that user?

why are we talking about the T-rooms now? we have already discussed the whole scenario and there is no more to it

no not randomly that would not be correct, you are taking the matter of the original topic off hand, which you have been for a while now.

"What I want is for it to be against the rules to shoot at a person you missed a taze on as a detective. There currently is no concrete rule against this and it has ruined rounds for people that are just playing the game."

this states it only happens after the det. misses the Tazer, shooting at the side which isnt at the Player wouldnt be T-Baiting(only applying to det. here dont steer off to innos) which in the DET. case wouldnt be baiting anyway cause he is already 100% proven at the start.

Edit: Also BeastTheNinja BeastTheNinja i wasnt bringing that up, it was just an example

T-baiting is t-baiting. Anyone can do it. It doesn't matter if you proven.
