We should consider a Contest Ban Link at Top of forum.

Looks like ppl don't scroll that far very often.

What does that say about us to new members if "contest ban" is at the top of our forum page

it could just be under the important information section, or maybe it could be titled useful information or something. its just common sense that its a gaming community, people are going to get banned. i dont think its that deep honestly, just an easier way for players to find links theyre looking for if they cant find it.

also for the people saying it would look weird, it could just be under the important information section, maybe near the bugs forum since people like to contest bans there. wouldnt look weird right next to other subforums

I don't think it's this deep. If they aren't posting in it with where it is right now they wouldn't post in it if it was at the top of the page.

do you even check the forums ? there are countless amounts of posts of people making posts in general chatter, bug report section, probably CL's too, saying "i got banned im conesting my ban" or people saying "where do i contest a ban" etc. it happens so often. having it at the top would make it more obvious for people that dont know how to scroll down and would rather post in the forums right at the top to contest their ban instead or just dont know where it is.

found these in a few secs but i think it proves my point:

But you don't know that's the reason it was posted there. There's a lot more factors involved in it and unless you go ahead and interview one of them it's hard to say.

For starters, maybe they just don't know what contest means. Who knows, english isn't their first language? Hard to say.

Second, it's under an administration category with zero posts in it and zero history. That could seem a little confusing for someone just trying to contest a ban. Perhaps a locked post in the thread would help tell people what they are doing there.

Finally, not everyone knows that eGO is multigame or how this community works. For them they might think that they need to contest per game or some other way.

Shoving it at the top is not a completely brick and mortar idea. The majority of the people that use this forum are regulars who aren't banned. It doesn't make sense to promote the high traffic areas of the forums (the top of the list) for a niche purpose.

Continuing to move threads back to where they need to be is simpler and works just fine.

I think if we put it on top it'd be kinda wack.

HOWEVER, I am in favor of putting it on the forum navigation bar under an Administrative section. Basically we would replace the Rules button with a drop-down labelled Administrative, containing the rules, the report a player section and then the contest ban section.
This is probably the most elegant solution No matter what we do there will still be outliers, but this solution solves the issue the best. We could also put MAUL under there, so we clean the top bar up and we achieve the end-goals.

Points are made for both sides here, but SOMETHING needs to be done. It is just wasted time all around every time we have to correct these posts and find them in the wrong subforum.

If Os are not gonna get mod tools for forums, then this is the best solution.

Except this doesn't happen, like ever, since the posts never use the form or even have half the info other than a barely literate "i g0t bannd this site is dum, wut do".

Spam posts barely get deleted on here half the time, let alone moving a thread to the right section.

That's a completely separate problem that should also be addressed

This too. Xen has a full suite of moderation tools. Giving these to Os make sense. The forums need more moderation, and right now the best solution is to trust a little. O's have 2FA enforced too, so the risk of acct breaches is smaller. While I can't say the powers given can't be abused, so are the other commands we have access to. The problem exists, and it needs to be addressed; among other things.

Another possible option is to append something like,
You may contest your ban at edgm.rs/contest
And then have that link to the contest form.

I'm not suggesting we move the Forum Post higher, but what if we just put a Banned? link next to the About up top? Honestly, I'm here every day and I don't even notice those things, but someone new to the forum would prolly find it right away.

Just a link to the right place.
