same :(

1a. $400-700
b. 01453
2. Video Games, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Folding@home (BC2 maxed or close too, preferably.)
3. If I learn how I will be.
4. Just the tower, and a copy of win7
5. 2 years
6. medium, a couple fans, preferably black, throw on some LED's.

I could do this myself, and I have plenty of times, I just would like to see what you throw together and either mix/match or pick mine>yours or yours>mine.

Thanks for your time phobus, and it can be 700 before shipping also, and try to get as close to 700 as you can, you can go over it about 100 bucks also. make it performance crazy.

Okay. Will do in a bit.

E/ Here it is.

Alright, my build request is going to require a little work I'm afraid. Currently I'm using the same rig for work and play. I would like a second setup for one or the other, whatever is more appropriate for the new computer.

Current rig is i7 860 @ 2.80, 6gb DDR3, single 640 HDD w/ room in the box for 3 more, XFX 5750, x64 Win 7 Premium. I'm running Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, and 3DS Max for work and BFBC2, DiRT2, etc for play. Work computer will run the dual 20" 1600x900s I'm currently using and game computer will run either 42" 480p(DVI, serial, and component only) or yet to be acquired 27"(belongs to my cousin, don't know full specs)

So, with that in mind:

1. $1600 give or take a little to 98103
2. Work or game, see above
3. No? No experience but I'm open to it
4. Everything for tower, no OS, will be loading Win 7 Ultimate
5. Work computer as long as possible, gaming 2-3 years
6. Work rig MUST fit in 17"H x 10"W x 21"D desk space including airspace, current rig fits fine

Okay, here's my thoughts.
The Vertex 2 and Western Digital Green 1TB are for you work computer. You can either sell your 5750 and use one of the 460s in your work computer as well, which will but a massive step up, especially for CUDA based programs, or you can keep both for your gaming rig.
Everything else is for the gaming rig. I only went with one 460 since your resolutions aren't exactly pixel pushing. :p

1a. 1300-1400, give or take
2. Video Games, Photoshop, I want to able run everything on max thats our currently
3. Undecided, worried because I don't know anything about how to make it work.
4. Just the Computer, and Windows 7
5. Until it can't play games anymore :P
6. I like the cases that you can see into, as long as it doesnt look dumb though.

Also I wanted to ask you if you think having dual video cards justify spending like an extra 150$ cause I was looking at dual 5770s or something

The only dual video card set up I'd recommend is SLI'd 460s.
What resolution is the monitor you intend to run this computer off of?
And where are you located? US/Canada?

150th Post.
Thanks for the support, guys. I didn't think this thread would become nearly this popular or gone this far.

This is what I think you should get. A new monitor, a beastly CPU/GPU, plenty of HDD space for your PhotoShop and video games, and an SSD boot drive :D
And, that 460 comes with 2 games and a SC2 trial. Metro 2033, Just Cause 2, and a Star Craft 2 trial. Epic.
Plus the case and powersupply are basically made for each other. I have those, and my oh my are they nice. :)

1.1 is looking good!

Thanks man.

Dude you should totally give me one of those Mafia II gifts for helping you :D
Also, there are three monitors in this build, so you can have 2D Surround. :D If your desk doesn't have enough space, then get this monitor instead.
Mmm you get a sexy HDD set up. 2TB storage, 640GB main programs, and 60GB boot drive/important programs.
And I forgot to put in speakers, but get these speakers, they're perfect for gaming. I left over some money for keyboard and mouse.

My other brother xD Also a musician.

1a. 800 Max
1b. 06801
1c. US
1d. Newegg
2a. Gaming (Should run BC2/WoW/Source games on Highish), Music
2b. Gaming is top priority, don't worry too much about a sound card if it would bump the cost too much.
3. Maybe.
4a. OS, Case, DVD drive, HDD
4b. 500GB
5. 4 years (will be upgrading it)
6a. Cheap/effective (maybe some led)
6b. Leave a little left for mouse.

Preferably has bluetooth compatibility (I don't know what that would take though, if its too much, don't worry)

You get 1TB instead since the promo code makes it the same price as 500GB HDDs.
And a GTX 460 with a 3GHz propus. Not bad. I left ~$50 for the mouse. If that's not enough, either drop the 460 for a 5770 or drop the 3GHz Rana for the 2.8GHz version.
