As many have posted, one of the biggest draws for me has been the fact that if I'm playing and my kids happen to be in the room, I don't have to worry about them hearing language that is inappropriate for them. Additionally, I think that the new rule will actually be harder to enforce, as it is more subjective. The previous rule was much more objective.
 
BF2BC2 has swearing in it, it's not too bad. I try to keep the soldiers to our new rule, excessive is bad.

Thank you, Wewo. The voice of reality and a reminder that cursing has been around forever. I appreciated eGO because we gave kids a cleaner environment and some guidance. Now we are giving in to the kids and allowing them to control us. Most parents would take the games and computer away from their children if they had any idea what all is said on the internet. When a 13 year old is allowed to drive a car, hold down a job, serve in the military, and pay all the bills, I will change my stance. Until then, he/she should be held accountable to talk with respect just a little bit longer.
 
I dont realy like it, becuase i feel eGO has been swear free for so long and changeing that now is kinda changeing eGO alot from were it was. Dont care much for swearing at all and dont do it my self, Was had at first gettitng used too it. But rules are rules, and follow then we must.
 
I know for me it has caused me to leave the game at times, when a person goes on a rant and swearing every sentence. And then seeing Full O's say, no its ok its allowed now.
This rule is really subjective and kinda been shoved on the membership without really asking if anybody besides leadership wanted it.
 
As long as people aren't being disrespectful towards others or have a "sailor mouth" it's fine with me.
 
Weep has a point. We have already seen a few members leave because of this policy change. Now, in the long-term, I suspected that it will allow us to go faster. I've seen so many people go, "No language? F*** your Christian f***ing server." The problem is that the language rule serves as a barrier against toxic people in the community. When people are mature enough to accept our rules, we recruit them. Everyone has always told me recruiting is quality over quantity. We want the best people possible to be involved the community. Abandoning the language rule contradicts that.
 
I've always found the attempt to establish a family friendly environment in 'M' rated games to be a bit of a quixotic venture. Honestly cursing should be fine as long as it doesn't veer into racist/sexist/homophobic slurs or devolve into malicious bullying.
 
I really really dont like the new rule on language. i liked it so much better when it was swear free.thats why i got on eGO in the first place!!!
 
Prime example is just go into 24/7 lockers.. it gets downright ridiculous with every cuss, slang, name calling, player disrespecting you can think of. I had enough of it being a admin, spend 99% of your time babysitting them while warning, and kicking them nonstop, time after time after time, plus deal with all the other violations that is being done, you can't even play the game yourself if you wanted to, but I put my foot down with things like that, that's was just me though. We all have to be on some sort of the same page with this stuff though. If we have a meeting on this stuff, there will be numerous things i want to bring up, and talk about. At the end of the day, i would like to have a server where people can just come in and enjoy it, and have fun, rather than be belittled, among everything else. Not much really can do though, it's a mature rated game, you can tell them and warn them all you want, but it'll keep on happening over and over. Just to much feedback on this and way to much to type out.
 
This is going to end up being a nightmare to admin and oversee, with lots of opinions and he-said she-said and rules lawyering.

However, the rules are the rules and I shall follow and enforce them.

Had a thought about this and cannot understand why you are giving ground here, had a visit to some other sites and they swear all the time, point is their admin don't think that it's excessive swearing just the norm............... so everyone has a different rating on what is and what isn't excessive swearing.
If you are trying to admin a server it needs to be black and white on the rules, everyone slips a shit in now and again but after a warning everything gets back in place, but you want to open the gates.
Maybe you should have held the vote to gauge the communities thoughts before introducing the new rules, or changing how you now define *Punk.
I think you might start losing the female players we have as they don't always want to hear it, come to it maybe the older players wouldn't be too happy either

But at the end of the day you want this new rule in or you would not have in placed it, I can go along with it but I'll bind a key letting players know if they swear twice which I think is excessive I'll Silence them.

Are you lot frightened of numbers dropping off if you don't come in line with the new wave of generations thinking and online attitude
 
My opinion:

If profanity is used in a way to disrespect and/or belittle someone, then an admin should follow the warn/kick/ban policy. It hasn't really bothered me when someone types out profanity. Though I think it's pretty stupid and immature to have to type out swear words in the chat of a gaming server. As for over the mic, I really couldn't care. The majority of us in the community are adults anyway.

If someone is using profanity excessively, then it should be counted as server disruption and/or chat spam.
 
I always thought it seemed pretty pointless spending effort disciplining people for swearing, especially considering that in private channels swearing was not an issue in the slightest. eGO's always billed itself as a mature gaming organization, and I don't see why mature people would not be allowed to swear. We are still cracking down on player disrespect and making sure everyone is friendly to each other, so swearing is not directed at anyone in particular unless used in jest typically. Additionally, it is cutting down on admins having to nanny a server constantly when there are a lot of non-eGO members. and allows admins to focus on more significant issues when they pop up.

I fully support this rule.
 
Eh...I said yes, but will still do what is necessary if it gets out of hand. Here is what usually happens anyway:

Mike: Yeah you...Joe, you lazy ass
Admin: !rules....(enter)
Mike: (ignores the rules) Joe you suck why don't you just leave!!
Admin: !psay "Mike" Mike please stop harassing Joe!!
Mike:Why must I stop he sucks balls for camping
Admin: !psay "Mike" Please calm down and play the game
Mike: F@#$%%^ -that piece of shit camper...
Admin: !kick "Mike" Player disrespect-you were warned to stop

But that is general procedure, as Rockin has demonstrated, and has been the same before and now after this rule change.

Administrating our servers should not really change at all, it's just EdgeGamers are defining the rules on language even more, which enhances our understanding of the CoC. No more "he-said" : "she-said" issues.
